PEI next in line for Bell Aliant's FTTH

SUMMERSIDE, PEI – Bell Aliant will roll out its fibre-to-the-home network FibreOP in Prince Edward Island next year.In an announcement on Wednesday, the company said that it will invest $20 million to serve approximately 30,000 homes and businesses in Charlottetown beginning early next spring, and in Summerside starting mid-2011. As part of the project, the provincial government will provide $300,000 in labour market development funding for workforce training under the Canada-Prince Edward Island Labour Market Agreement.
