Videotron tests wireless; rolls out new Internet service

MONTREAL – Videotron has begun final phase of testing its new 3.75G mobile network as it gears up to launch its wireless service this summer.

Tests of the system’s operational implementation and technological reliability will continue until the network goes into operation, and the company said that build-out of its AWS network “is progressing quickly”.

"Consumers know that we are committed to maintaining superior-quality service for our customers," said president and CEO Robert Dépatie, in a statement. "This is why we are already beginning extensive testing, with about a hundred selected individuals, of the entire customer experience, covering both services and products."

Videotron said that it has chosen a number of confidential locations across Quebec for the tests.

In other news, the company has rolled out a new Internet access service called Ultimate Speed Internet 15.

With a speed of 15 mbps and combined upload/download limit of 60 Gb, the new service will be available to all Videotron customers effective May 12 starting at $54.95 per month.
