MONCTON, NB – Bell Aliant launched its fibre-to-the-home network FibreOP in the Greater Moncton Area on Thursday.
Customers in the City of Dieppe are the first to be able to order FibreOP services, followed by the Town of Riverview and the City of Moncton starting this Fall, the company said. FibreOP is currently available in the greater Fredericton and Saint John areas of the province.
“We’re thrilled with the success thus far in New Brunswick,” said Kelly Duplisea, VP of FibreOP and TV, in the announcement. “Thousands of customers have chosen FibreOP, and we’re excited to now offer the world’s most advanced broadband network to our customers in these communities.”
FibreOP offers Internet speeds up to 70 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload, digital TV service including high definition television, and watch and record PVR. Earlier this year, Bell Aliant pledged to bring the technology to 110,000 (or 35%) of the homes and business in New Brunswick in 2010, and to extend the service to a total of 145,000 (45%) of the province by mid-2011.
