Videotron increases basic Internet speeds

MONTREAL – Videotron has boosted the speed of its basic Internet access service from 1 mbps to 2.5 mbps, after raising the package’s file transfer limit in April.

The company said that it “was the logical next move” in order to provide a service that matches customer needs, and still provides the fastest Internet access services in the Québec market.

“The faster speed will further enhance user experience, letting Videotron customers download documents, music, movies and videos in half the time,” said Myrianne Collin, VP of marketing, consumer division, in the announcement. “Videotron continues to address the growing needs of its customers, who are looking for more speed at a reasonable price. We are fully focused on delivering a range of Internet services designed to meet the expectations of all consumers.”

Videotron’s basic Internet service will support a transfer speed of 2.5 mbps with a transfer limit of 3 GB, for the same price of $27.95.
