Devall, Silverman named lifetime achievement award winners

TORONTO – CTV’s Dave Devall, and Peter Silverman from Citytv Toronto have been chosen as this year’s recipients of the Radio-Television News Directors’ Association (RTNDA) Lifetime Achievement Award by The Association of Electronic Journalists.

The award was created in 2002 "to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast journalism".

Dave Devall is one of North American’s longest serving weatherman, with 48 years of service. He has worked at CTV Toronto since the station’s inception in 1961, and announced earlier this month that he will retire this April.

Peter Silverman led the ‘Silverman Helps’ investigative/consumer news unit at Citytv Toronto for over 20 years. He is also the winner of several journalism awards, including the New York Festival’s ‘Grand’ and ‘Gold’ awards, an RTNDA Award for investigative reporting, and has been nominated for several Gemini awards.

The RTNDA Lifetime Achievement Award awards will be presented at a banquet on June 26, 2009 at the Westin Hotel in Toronto.
