Karaoke Channel launches iPhone/Pod app

MONTREAL – Stingray Digital announced today the launch of The Karaoke Channel Mobile app for iPhone and iPod touch.

Selling in the Apple App store for an introductory price of $0.99 (regular price $2.99), the app offers a true karaoke experience, including 50 hit songs, each with original video backgrounds and the ability to subscribe to the full library with access to over 6,000 songs for one month for an additional $2.99.

“Now, whether you’re on a bus, in a café, a park, uptown, downtown or in your living room, you can sing out loud to your favorite songs whenever and wherever you go,” said Alexandre Taillefer, CEO of Stingray Digital, in the press release.

This new karaoke app offers users 50 great hit songs in the style of today’s top artists, such as Lady GaGa, T-Pain, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson and many others. The list is updated on a monthly basis and played with original concept video backgrounds and an optional lead vocal guide track that can be turned on or off. Full song lyrics are included on each song’s info page.

With this app, users can also listen to members’ recordings from The Karaoke Channel Online and participate in the community by voting, nominating and commenting on members’ recordings. Recording songs on the iPhone/iPod touch is not supported in this release but will be added in the future.

The Karaoke Channel, with a library of more than 18,000 professional quality karaoke songs, is a video on demand service available in 40 million homes across North America, and is online with The Karaoke Channel Online community and download store.

Besides karaoke, Stingray Digital properties include Galaxie digital music and CHUM Satellite Services and is headquartered in Montreal.
