TORONTO – A new promotional campaign by Showcase will utilize Quick Response (QR) codes, in addition to the more traditional marketing elements, to highlight the debut of its new series Pure Pwnage.
QR codes are a unique and quickly growing platform developed for use with mobile devices. Once a simple QR code reader app is downloaded, consumers are able to hold up their mobile device to a print ad, scan the code, and will then be directed to a dedicated website.
In downtown Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, digital advertisement boards in bars and restaurant washrooms will run a 15 second, full motion video ad, accompanied by print creative which will include the use of QR code. Exclusive to the Toronto market will be a grassroots campaign displaying postings in 45 locations throughout the city that will also sport the QR code.
The QR codes will link to the site PurePwnage.com/tv/promo which will host additional information on the series, exclusive on-line games and mobisodes. The four week multi-media campaign is also utilizing a partnership with Xbox Canada plus elements of print, out-of-home, on-line and gaming that will drive to the series premiere on March 12 at 10pm et/pt.
Pure Pwnage tells the story of ‘Jeremy’, the ultimate video gamer, living in a digital bubble.
