MONTREAL – Astral Media said today that is will cut 23 positions from its English language radio operations/
“In order to maintain and enhance the competitive position of its 82 radio stations across Canada, following the integration of the Standard Radio assets, Astral Media Radio has reorganized some of its English-language operations. This has resulted in the departure of 23 employees at all levels of the organization. For the most part, these positions will not be replaced,” reads the press release.
According to the SOWNY news board, those who have lost their jobs include EZ Rock program director Brian DePoe, vice-president of programming Ross Davies; vice-president of engineering Dave Simon, CFRB morning anchor Jane Brown, afternoon anchor David Bent, evening anchor Bill MacDonald and overnight anchor John Elston.
“Astral Media wishes to sincerely thank these employees for their contribution and wishes them the best of luck for the future. The company is confident that this reorganization will allow the Radio Group to continue to enhance its competitive position, and to remain the most important radio reference in Canada,” adds the release.
