TORONTO – The Prairie region of the Association of Electronic Journalists selected Hal Gardiner and Carl Worth as their 2009 RTNDA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award recipients.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was created in 2002 “to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast journalism”.
Hal Gardiner has been an on-air newsman for over 40 years, where he’s reported on “all of the major news events in Alberta’s two largest cities” of Calgary and Edmonton, as well as being involved with numerous fund raising efforts.
Carl Worth began his career in radio at age 17, before making the move to become a television reporter in 1981. He joined STN News as an assignment editor for ‘The Provincial’, a newly created regional news program, before joining CTV Regina where he remains as news director.
The awards will be presented at the RTNDA Prairie Regional Awards Banquet in Edmonton on May 30, 2009.
