Bell bulks up collaboration portfolio

MONTREAL – Bell has integrated Cisco and Microsoft technologies to create uniform user experience across multi-platforms, designed to help customers maximize their current information technology (IT) investments in unified communications.

Bell developed the first live demo in Canada showcasing the interoperability of the Cisco unified communications system with the Microsoft Office communication server, which will allow customers to unify their desktop and infrastructure environment. This will result in increased productivity, improved customer experience and reduced capital costs, the press release said.

"Bell works with our customers to build scalable communication strategies that can grow with their business priorities”, said Paul Rowe, vice president of marketing for Bell’s enterprise group, in the release. “Bell is demonstrating its strong expertise in integrating the technology of two of the leaders in the unified communications market and enabling their respective solutions to work flawlessly together."

Bell said that the interoperability value proposition is in response to customers’ requests to create a homogenous user experience across their heterogeneous information and communication technology environment.

"Collaboration is the next phase of the Internet and businesses are increasingly looking to collaboration tools to enhance communications and productivity," said Olaf Krahmer, vice president, service provider, for Cisco Canada.  "The Cisco Unified Communications system is designed to integrate with business applications, existing IT infrastructures and Web services, to enable forward-thinking partners like Bell to create customized applications and network-based services."
