Sony first to demo 3D TVs in Canada

TORONTO – Sony is the first consumer electronics company in Canada to stock the much ballyhooed 3D-capable LCD HDTVs, which it says will be available for purchase this summer.

Targeted to movie, sport, and video game enthusiasts, Sony’s 3D capable LCD HDTVs use active shutter glasses and high frame rate technology to reproduce full HD 3D images.

"From the lens to the living room, Sony is leading the transition to 3D," said Dan Phillips, director of LCD TV marketing at Sony Canada, in the announcement. "With the first in-store demonstrations of 3D-capable televisions, we’re making the 3D experience come to life for consumers."

Through March 2010, consumers can preview Sony’s 3D technology at the following locations:
– Sony Style, Level 1, Toronto Eaton Centre in Toronto;
– Sony Style, Zone 2146A, Montreal Eaton Centre in Montreal;
– Sony Style, Level 2 off Robson Street, Pacific Centre Mall in Vancouver.

Sony Style stores in Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Richmond, B.C., will be equipped with 3D TV demos in the coming weeks.
