Tru2way specs to be released later this year

LOUISVILLE, CO – CableLabs will release a source code reference implementation of its tru2way specifications later this year that it says "will accelerate the development and deployment of tru2way devices and applications".

This marks a "key milestone" in the cable industry’s deployment of a common software platform by giving device manufacturers and application providers a single, compliant software stack for building tru2way enabled products and services, the press release said.

Tru2way technology is a national software platform enabling cable’s interactive services to be delivered to two-way plug and play TVs, set-top boxes and other devices.  It creates a national footprint for the creators of interactive services to develop products that work on cable systems, and most of the major U.S. cable operators have committed to support the platform on systems covering more than 90 million U.S. homes by the end of 2009.

Founded in 1988 by members of the cable television industry, Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs) is a non-profit research and development consortium that is dedicated to pursuing new cable telecommunications technologies and to helping its cable operator members integrate those advancements into their business objectives.
