TORONTO – The Creators Copyright Coalition (CCC) has a message for Industry Minister Tony Clement – don’t forget about us.
In a statement issued Thursday, the CCC expressed its concern at not being invited to participate in Monday’s forum designed to examine the creationtion of a national digital media strategy, hosted by Minister Clement.
“Creators such as writers, performers, musicians and visual artists create the content that is the basis of the digital economy,” said CCC chair Bill Freeman, in the statement. “We’re concerned that the government can hold discussions with industry leaders and not include creators, the people who make the Internet an interesting and vital medium.”
The CCC is an alliance of 16 professional associations of individual creators and performers, and copyright collective societies active in the theatre, the visual arts, the applied arts, literature, music, recording and audiovisual arts.
