Bell joins HomePNA alliance

SAN RAMON, CA – Bell Canada has become the latest telco to join HomePNA, which now claims more telco members than any other wired home networking technology alliance.

HomePNA is an alliance of technology companies working to promote the adoption of a high performance existing-wire home networking standard for applications such as triple-play service deployments. Currently focused on operation over coax cable and phone wire, the group creates internationally recognized, open and interoperable standards and best practices to facilitate interoperability and convergence of all networked IP data in the home.

“We have enjoyed a big increase in the number of service providers joining HomePNA following the very successful HomePNA Summit last October,” said president Bill Simmelink, in a statement. “The alliance has impressed them as a valuable resource for technical support as they deploy HomePNA technology in their customers’ homes.”

Founded in June 1998, HomePNA members include international companies that span the networking, telecommunications, hardware, software and consumer electronics industries.
