STRATFORD, ON – How is making entertainment and content-rich applications accessible on portable devices changing the game for broadcasters and legislators in Canada?
This is just one of the many topics up for debate at Canadian Digital Media Network’s (CDMN) conference held Monday and Tuesday in Stratford, ON. And Cartt.ca will be there.
The event, called ‘Canada 3.0: Defining Canada’s Digital Future’, is led by the University of Waterloo Stratford Institute and partners the Canadian Digital Media Network and Open Text Corporation.
The CDMN also announced the formation of its Advisory Board which will set strategic direction for the group. To date, confirmed advisors include:
– Tom Jenkins (Chair), executive chairman and chief strategy officer of Open Text;
– Mark Pecen, VP advanced technologies at Research In Motion;
– Gerry Remers, president and COO of Christie Digital Systems;
– Mike Lee, chief strategy officer, Rogers Communication;
– Doug Cooper, country manager for Intel Canada;
– Lisa de Wilde, CEO of TVO;
– Gerri Sinclair, CEO of the Centre for Digital Media, University of British Columbia;
– Gary Maavara, VP and general counsel for Corus Entertainment;
– Andrew Fisher, EVP for Wesley Clover;
– Jeff Nesbitt, director of global partnerships for Agfa HealthCare;
– Ian Wilson, strategist, University of Waterloo Stratford Institute;
– Iain Klugman, president and CEO, Communitech;
– Rick Segal, partner, BlackBerry Partners Fund.
The CDMN was established in January through a $10.7 million investment of the federal government’s Networks of Centres of Excellence program. The network’s goal is to connect Canada’s clusters of digital capability with the intent of fostering collaboration amongst researchers, academics, industry and government for all areas pertaining to digital media.
