Rentrak to measure Stingray’s VOD vids on Rogers

PORTLAND – Multi-screen media measurement and research company Rentrak today announced a multi-year agreement with Montreal-based Stingray Digital for the content provider’s new music video-on-demand (VOD) service launching on Rogers Cable.

Stingray recently launched its "Galaxie Music Videos on Demand" service on Rogers Cable and Rentrak will provide Stingray with detailed data and insights “to help the content provider define and grow their business model,” says the press release.

Additionally, Rentrak sees the expansion of the video-on-demand platform in Canada as a strong revenue growth opportunity.

"Video-on-demand is expanding in Canada as operators and content providers are working in concert to develop a business model that will bring more viewing choices to consumers," said Carol Hinnant, senior vice-president of business development, advanced media and information division at Rentrak in the release.

"As an independent Canadian content provider, Stingray is on the cutting edge of content development. We picked Rentrak for video-on-demand audience measurement because Stingray understands the value of highly-detailed digital set-top-box data in helping us expand our business," said Eric Boyko, president, Stingray Digital, in the press release.

Rentrak’s OnDemand Essentials processes daily, census-level on-demand data representing 70 million set-top boxes from 33 MSOs with their extensive on-demand data being used by more than 100 content provider subscription clients and 100% of the top-25 operators offering video-on-demand.
