TORONTO – One of High Fidelity HDTV’s digital specialty channels, the all-nature Oasis HD, said this week it has signed on as a presenting sponsor for the Canadian broadcast of the 2009 Masters Tournament along side of Acura and Rolex.
(The independent broadcaster also owns all-high-def channels Rush HD, Treasure HD and Equator HD.)
While it might be a little unusual for the Canadian broadcasters TSN, RDS and Global Television to be promoting another TV outlet during their broadcasts, Oasis bought the sponsorship from Graham Sanborn Media, the Toronto company which owns the Canadian broadcast rights to The Masters in Canada.
No word on the cost of such a premium sponsorship, but it should help the channel sell subscriptions to a high-end demographic (which is also a very captive audience since The Masters places strict limits on the amount of available commercial time).
Oasis HD is available across Canada on satellite and cable distributors, including Bell TV and Rogers. “Oasis HD is a new family friendly HD channel,” said Ken Murphy, co-founder, in a release. “It fits in beautifully with the premium audience that The Masters attracts year in and year out.”
The tournament begins today and continues tomorrow on TSN and RDS, with weekend action on Global TV.
