MTS provides solution for The Accessible Channel

TORONTO – MTS Allstream will supply its Wavelength Solutions to The Accessible Channel (TACtv), the English language described video and closed-captioned channel that launched nationally earlier this year.

Wavelength Solutions will provide TACtv with high bandwidth applications and business continuity requirements to meet the needs of persons who are blind, vision-impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, the press release said.

"As one of Canada’s first service guaranteed optical wavelength solutions, MTS Allstream will give The Accessible Channel the ability to transport data at the speed of light along fibre optic cables that carry up to 64 concurrent wavelengths of digital information on a single strand of fibre," said Dean Prevost, president of enterprise solutions for MTS Allstream, in the release. "By working together to provide better connectivity and applications, we are pleased to help The Accessible Channel achieve its mission of providing television that includes everyone."
