MONTREAL – In announcing the renewal of its carriage agreement with Rogers Cable for the distribution of the Galaxie-MaxTrax commercial-free music service, Stingray Digital also said its newest on demand service: Galaxie Music Videos On Demand, will be launched in the coming months.
"The new Galaxie Music Videos On Demand service is the perfect complement to the popular Galaxie Digital Music Service that Rogers customers have been enjoying for over 10 years,” said Eric Boyko, president of Stingray Digital, in a press release.
“Music videos have proven to be a very popular VOD category in other countries and we expect the same interest in Canada.”
This brand extension is the first of its kind in Canada and will allow Rogers subscribers to select their choice of music videos, or select and watch professionally-programmed music video playlists through Rogers On Demand (channel 100).
This new VOD service will be available at no cost to the customer and there will be hundreds of popular videos of all genres ready to be watched at the viewer’s convenience, says the company.
“The Galaxie Music Videos On Demand service benefits from the expertise and in-depth musical knowledge of the team of professional music programmers who understand what music people want to listen to, and how they want to consume it,” adds the release.
Stingray’s properties include The Karaoke Channel, Galaxie Max Trax, and Stingray Music, its music licensing unit. Stingray was founded by entrepreneurs Eric Boyko and Alexandre Taillefer, and is financially backed by Telesystem and Novacap.
The company has more than 60 employees with headquarters in Montreal and offices in Charlotte, Los Angeles and Budapest.
