CES kicks off this week and Cartt.ca is there

LAS VEGAS – Television stars, sports icons, legendary actors (like TV’s Punky Brewster… ;), authors and other celebs will be at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show to promote and interact with the products and technologies shaping the consumer technology world.

Cartt.ca consumer electronics editor John Bugailiskis will be there too, as he returns to CES for his fifth year covering the show. It kicks off tomorrow for media types with some exclusive previews for the 5,000 or so journalists at the event. About 110,000 delegates are expected.

And what are the primary television and telecom topics heading into the world largest CE show? How about 3DTV as the primary one, along with TV widgets (some TV manufacturers will announce some Skype-enabled HDTVs this week for example, on sets that are web-enabled, using an Ethernet or wireless port to provide the interactivity). Over-the-top video (Xbox, Boxee, Hulu) and car connectivity (Ford CEO Alan Mulally is keynoting one day) will also emerge as news items. Google will be on all minds for many reasons, especially as its Android-powered phones and apps will be everywhere. And everyone’s talking about Apple’s tablet, which may or may not launch this spring.

And don’t forget green. That’s a part of everyone’s pitch nowadays.

So don’t miss our coverage of the 2010 International CES, which runs January 7-10 in Las Vegas. If you’d like anything in particular covered, please let us know at editorial@cartt.ca and watch for our updates on Twitter.
