NEWMARKET, Ont. – The Ontario Telecommunications Association (OTA) and Ontera jointly announced today that the northern Ontario company has joined the OTA as its 21st member.
“Ontera has a long history of working with many of the OTA member companies and we are pleased to now be part of the team.” said Ontera’s director, project management office and strategy, Amedeo Bernardi. “As technology continues to rapidly evolve, so do the challenges of continually refreshing our infrastructure and related processes. Ontera recognizes the value of being part of a group with similar experiences”.
“The addition of Ontera to the Association will only add to our strength and effectiveness as we represent the interests of small incumbent local exchange carriers,” added the OTA’s executive director Jonathan Holmes.
Based in Newmarket, Ontario, the OTA represents the regulatory and commercial interests of twenty one diversified small incumbent local exchange carriers (SILECs) which together serve approximately 100,000 access lines and provide a broad range of telephone, Internet, cellular and digital television services across many rural regions in the province of Ontario.
Based in North Bay, Ontera is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC), an operational enterprise of the Province of Ontario. Having operated in Northeastern Ontario for over 100 years, Ontera has a legacy of experience that results from selecting and connecting leading edge technologies throughout the region, for the people of the North.
