TORONTO – For the first time, Canadian fans of ABC’s hit TV shows Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives can now watch episodes online at CTV.ca.
CTV’s announcement today comes as a result of an agreement signed with Disney-ABC International Television. This is the first time the three ABC Studios-produced series are being streamed in Canada on a free, ad-supported basis.
ABC has been streaming the shows in the States for a while, but geo-limiting technology prevented their viewing outside the USA.
The deal includes full-episode streaming of the current season of all three series. In addition, the last two episodes of each series broadcast before their recent hiatus will also be available. Each new episode will be available online following its West Coast broadcast on CTV.
Also available on demand are episode recaps, episode previews and, in the case of Lost, exclusive online content.
“These are three of the hottest shows on television today, and we want to make sure CTV viewers can stay on top of these fan favourites through the end of the season by catching up at their convenience,” said Susanne Boyce, president, creative, content and channels, CTV Inc.
