CTAM Canada presents advanced advertising session today

TORONTO – It was one of the key topics under discussion during the CRTC hearing into new policies to govern broadcast distribution undertakings and CTAM Canada is about to hit the topic again for its members.

Advanced advertising, or targeted advertising, advertising within the VOD stream, or on PVRs, or split demographically, whatever you call it, it will all be on the table July 15th in Toronto.

The morning will begin with a presentation from David Downey, president and CEO of Invidi, a leader in the advanced cable advertising whose platform is being deployed by major American MSOs right now, followed by what promises to be a rich panel discussion.

Moderated by Mike Lee, chief strategy officer of Rogers Communications, the discussion will highlight various perspectives (cable, broadcasting, specialty, technology and advertising) from across the industry with participating executives and stakeholders from a number of companies.

“The cable industry is currently designing and introducing new forms of highly efficient, highly engaging television advertising units which promise to revolutionize the medium. Learn from top cable advertising strategists about how cable is blending unique technology, delivery and audience-measurement attributes to produce powerful and persuasive new advertising forms and formats,” says the CTAM Canada press release.

Invidi is an advanced advertising solution for cable operators, broadcasters, agencies, media buyers and planners. The company’s Advatar is an enterprise-level, downloadable digital set-top box application, a scalable system that works with all commercials on every channel and provides decision making, addressable delivery, verification, second by second measurements and reporting for targeted addressable television advertising.

Besides Lee and Downey, the rest of the speakers will be

* Walter Levitt (chief marketing officer, Canwest Broadcasting)
* Mike Garrow (senior vice-president, strategy, The Fight Network)
* David Purdy (vice-president, video product management, Rogers Cable)
* Bob Rheaume (vice-president, policy and research, Association of Canadian Advertisers)

Time: 10am to 11am – Downey’s presentation
