Cygnal’s Hurlow steps down

MARKHAM – Cygnal Technologies long-serving chairman Gerald Hurlow announced today he is retiring as a director of the company and as chairman of its board of directors.

Hurlow has been chairman of Cygnal since 1993, and also served as president and CEO from August, 2004 to November, 2005. Current CEO Jos Wintermans will take over as chairman.

"After much reflection I feel the time is right to step aside," said Hurlow, in a press release. "I believe Jos Wintermans has guided Cygnal through its most difficult times, and the road to success is now clear. I am confident that the company is in the hands of a strong, capable and energetic leader."

Cygnal, an equipment and services supplier to the CATV, telecom and broadcast industries has seen its share of troubles recently and has admittedly struggled.

On behalf of the company and the board, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Gerry for the many years of commitment and leadership he has contributed to Cygnal," said Wintermans, in the release. "As the incoming CEO I found his strategic counsel and market knowledge to be particularly valuable. I believe we have laid the foundation for profitable growth as we capitalize on significant opportunities available in the network communications market."
