Znaimer going after the 50-plus market

TORONTO – Citytv co-founder and media oracle Moses Znaimer is casting his net into entirely different waters than his decades at Citytv and CHUM.

From his perch at 299 Queen St. W., the man who seemed to be executive producer of every CHUM-created show, always catered to the young, urban hip crowd. Today, however, it’s emerged that Znaimer will acquire control of Fifty-Plus.Net and add it to his existing media holdings aimed at the baby boomer crowd.

Under the proposed transaction, Znaimer’s Olympus Management Limited will acquire control of FPN by providing cash and vending in certain assets.

Znaimer is currently chairman and executive producer of Classical 96.3 FM and 101.3 FM radio, Toronto, and President/Executive Producer of MZTV, a boutique television production and distribution company in Toronto. Those assets are not a part of this transaction.

The acquisition of Fifty-Plus.Net will see Znaimer emerge as president and CEO, as well as controlling shareholder as he will roll his 66.7% stake in Kemur Publishing into FPN. Kemur publishes CARP Magazine, a 190,000 circulation mag published nine times a year for the Canadian Association for the Fifty-Plus.

The transaction’s effect will be to consolidate under FPN both the online and offline media currently associated with CARP and published on behalf of CARP. These will be complemented by FPN’s other online publishing assets, including www.50plus.com and five electronic newsletters, says the press release.
