LONDON – KidsCo, a multiplatform channel for children and families owned by Corus Entertainment Inc., NBC Universal and DIC Entertainment, launched in Hong Kong under a deal with Hong Kong’s PCCW Now TV.
“The launch of KidsCo in Hong Kong is a strategic part of our expansion into all the world’s TV markets and we are delighted to be welcomed further into Asia,” said KidsCo Managing Director Paul Robinson. “KidsCo’s unique positioning and content partner ownership makes us a valuable new channel to platforms and kids.”
NBC Universal’s Managing Director, Global Networks Asia Pacific, Raymund Miranda, called the pickup of KidsCo by the IPTV platform Now TV “an exciting accomplishment for our very young venture.”
The announcement made Tuesday follows carriage deals with various platform operators in Asia, including SingTel’s mio TV in Singapore, the Philippines’ Sky Cable and Cable Boss, along with Korea’s HanaTV.
KidsCo also currently broadcasts in Spain, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa.
