Millions watch storm on www.theweathernetwork.com

OAKVILLE – The major winter storm that excited skiers across Southern Ontario and Quebec on the weekend resulted in record levels of traffic for theweathernetwork.com and meteomedia.com.

“We delivered over 11.6 million pages of weather content during a 24 hour period on Sunday” said Taylor Emerson, vice-president and general manager of Pelmorex Interactive Services, in a release. Almost 8.7 million page views were generated on theweathernetwork.com and over three million on meteomedia.com.* “It was our largest single day in terms of content delivery.”

Over the past year, theweathernetwork.com and meteomedia.com have averaged over 100 million page views per month or 3.5 million page views per day. “The increase in traffic is three times that of our average day,” added Emerson, “but we have been over 10 million daily page views during other periods of active winter weather”.

ComScore data indicates that an average of almost 7.2 million Canadians visit our sites per month, says the press release. “Although, we see significant spikes in traffic during storm events, our web sites consistently deliver amongst the highest reach of Canadian online audiences throughout the year,” added Emerson.
