McLaughlin joins HiFi HDTV


TORONTO – Veteran television marketer Mike McLaughlin has joined High Fidelity HDTV as head of sales and sponsorship, the company announced today.

McLaughlin will also become a part owner of the business and becomes the fourth member of the HiFi management committee along with managing partners, Ken Murphy, John Panikkar and David Patterson.

The company is an independent Canadian broadcaster with a suite of four channels broadcast in Canada: Oasis HD., Treasure HD., Equator HD. and Rush HD.

McLaughlin will be responsible for all aspects of sales and sponsorships for High Fidelity HDTV. “We are thrilled to have Michael on our team,” said Murphy, in a release. “He is one of the most colourful and effective personalities in Canadian marketing, and his energy is infectious. His vast experience of 23 years and unique expertise in Canadian television, I believe, he will deliver growth and new audiences to our business.”

McLaughlin joins High Fidelity from Omnicom Media Group, where he served for eight years as an executive vice-president within its entertainment group. responsible for sales and marketing to the Canadian broadcasting community. He spent 15 years prior with CanWest Global in numerous positions including production, programming and sales. McLaughlin began his career as a camera operator at Global Television in 1985.

He was also a founding member of “Raising the Roof”, Canada’s only National Charity for Homelessness. Since its inception in 1997 Raising the Roof has allocated over $2.5 million dollars to more than 100 partner agencies across Canada working to reduce homelessness at the community level.
