MONTREAL – CBC/Radio-Canada has opened five CBC Shop locations for the holiday season, including two kiosks in the Montréal area – one at Promenades Saint-Bruno and the other at Fairview Pointe-Claire.
These new sites in prominent shopping centres complement existing stores in the offices of CBC/Radio-Canada in Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa, and the online shop at www.cbcshop.ca.
The kiosk at Promenades Saint-Bruno is back for a second year, while the Fairview Pointe-Claire location is brand new. The other stores include a CBC Shop in Edmonton’s Kingsway Garden Mall and a kiosk at Mississauga’s Square One Shopping Centre in the Greater Toronto Area. The fifth location, in Ottawa’s Place d’Orléans, was also in place last year. All will be open only until mid-January.
The CBC Shops, kiosks and www.cbcshop.ca offer gift ideas like DVDs and CDs of CBC/Radio-Canada programs and documentaries, music from the CBC Records label, books, and clothing and accessories such as retro logo T-shirts, hats and Hockey Night in Canada adult and children’s jerseys.
New items this year include the Hockey Night in Canada and Coronation Street DVD trivia games, a new Vinyl Café book and CD, By the Numbers, a hockey book by Scott Morrison, and other items.
Profits generated by the CBC Shops are reinvested in CBC/Radio-Canada programming, says the press release.
