EDMONTON – Yet-to-be-launched digital pay service Superchannel said today it has signed a deal with Maple Pictures, where Superchannel will be the exclusive broadcaster of Maple Pictures’ latest theatrical features and series offered in the subscription pay television window.
The follows deals announced earlier this week with MGM and NBC Universal. The channel has yet to announce carriage deals with Canadian TV distributors.
Among the first titles offered will be Saw III, Happily N’ever After, Death of a President and The US vs. John Lennon. The launch will also feature the Canadian pay television Premieres of Shattered and King of Sorrow.
“Maple Pictures’ programming is a terrific example of the kind of innovative offering viewers will have access to on Superchannel,” said Sandy Perkins, Superchannel, vice-president programming, in a press release.
“Maple Pictures is proud to represent a cornerstone of Superchannel’s programming schedule”, added Maple Pictures co-president Brad Pelman. “We are confident that Canadian audiences will be receptive to a new pay television service to complement the existing services. We look forward to working with the entire Superchannel team.”
Superchannel will launch next month with two new HD channels, four new SD channels, and an SVOD platform.
