Compton marks 35th year with new suite of services

UTICA, Ont. – Independent cable company Compton Communications continues to lead the way when it comes to small town digital TV service.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the company has launched 12 new high-definition channels, more radio and digital music, more standard definition channels and two new Compton OnDemand services highlight the new service launch. The company has also added Setanta Sports’ PPV package and NHL Centre Ice.

“We’ve heard our customers ask for more high-definition content, and we’ve delivered,” said Ed Olsen, general manager of Compton Communications, in the press release. “We now offer 25 HD channels to top off what we feel is the most value-oriented channel lineup in the business.” HD channels launched include Citytv HD, Global HD, LeafsTV HD and National Geographic HD.

Compton now offers nearly 300 audio and video channels, "without the excess duplication offered by the competition," adds the release. It also offers the Setanta package for $12.99, a couple of bucks cheaper than other Canadian carriers.

Compton has also launched Mpix OnDemand and The Golf Channel On Demand, both free services included for digital subscribers of the Mpix and Golf Channel services, respectively. Mpix OnDemand offers hours of classic movies with full fast forward, rewind and pause capability, all available 24 hours per day. The Golf Channel On Demand features tips from the greatest names in golf, coverage of past events and more great content for the golf fanatic.

Compton Communications serves about 5,000 customers in Port Perry, Goodwood, Coppins Corners, Epsom and surrounding areas with digital television and high-speed Internet services and voice over IP telephony.
