WATERLOO and TORONTO – LiveHive Systems and Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment announced today they will bring interactive television to five LeafsTV broadcasts of Toronto Maple Leafs games.
Beginning with tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Toronto Maple Leafs, fans watching on Leafs TV or via NHL Centre Ice will be able to participate in a five-game contest that involves interaction with live hockey.
Powered by LiveHive’s NanoGaming technology, the game — called Leafs TV Game Master – allows fans to play along while they watch, accumulate points, and qualify for prizes. Players make such predictions as who will get the next goal, as well as answer trivia questions, and chat with other fans. To play, viewers go online to www.mapleleafs.com/gamemaster before each game and click on the ‘Launch the Game’ button.
“Hockey is Canada’s national game and the many viewers of our most watched team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, will now be able to see for themselves how hockey telecasts can be interactive,” said Robert Riopelle, co-founder and vice-president, business development, LiveHive Systems, based in Waterloo, Ont., in a release.
Previously, LiveHive brought its NanoGaming technology to football, baseball, NASCAR, Mixed Martial Arts, and reality TV.
“Bringing interactivity to Maple Leafs hockey is an exciting way to get our fans even more engaged,” added Chris Hebb, senior VP of broadcast and content, MLSE.
