QUEBEC CITY – Telus said today it will retrofit the legacy building located at 300 St-Paul St. West in Quebec City according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standard.
“The site will become a state-of-the-art eco-friendly building that will bring together hundreds of Telus’ Quebec City-based employees, currently working from a number of locations across the city. The new Telus office will be a building that is good for the environment, celebrates innovation and inspires business growth in the community,” says the press release.
"Today’s unveiling is a tangible demonstration of Telus’ determination to deepen our roots here in Quebec City," said Karen Radford, president of Telus Québec. "By choosing to bring new energy to this area, we are sending a clear message about our intention to grow our team while we serve our customers and this community for many years to come."
"The agreement with Telus has shown us the importance the company places on the environment and, specifically, on ensuring its team enjoys a quality work atmosphere. It truly is a pleasure to work with a company that fully shares our corporate values," stated Guy Gionet, president and general manager of SOLIM, the provincial real estate investment and development fund working with Telus on the project. "What’s more, renovating the building will reaffirm the commercial vocation of the revitalized St-Roch district."
Telus House will rise out of the former Canada Post office, a five-storey structure featuring 145,000 square feet of office space, located at the intersection of St-Paul St. West and Abraham-Martin Street. The existing site is within walking distance of the Gare du Palais, the port, and all of the amenities in the petit Champlain and St-Roch districts.
The building will feature a wellness facility, a roof-top patio, floor-to-ceiling windows, indoor and outdoor parking and 10,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Telus will be the lead tenant, occupying three stories or more than 50 percent of the total rentable area. Bicycle storage and shower facilities will also be part of its eco-friendly design.
