New Alberta Aboriginal internship program from CanWest


CALGARY – Canwest Global announced today the launch of a paid internship program for Aboriginal students in Alberta.

Three internships per year – valued at approximately $10,000 each – are available at Canwest stations in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Red Deer, Alberta for the next seven years.

“Students seeking to begin and further a career in broadcasting will receive a challenging opportunity to work in private television with a four-month paid internship in an area of business that reflects personal interest,” says the company’s press release.

The Canwest Aboriginal Internship Program is open to Aboriginal Canadian citizens who are currently enrolled in – or have been accepted to and will be attending full-time studies at – an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution in the field of broadcasting. Preference will be given to residents of Alberta who are enrolled in a post-secondary institution in Alberta.
