TORONTO – Downloaders have never had it so good says Rogers Cable Communications. It says independent research firm comScore Inc. has found its hi-speed Internet speeds the fastest and most reliable for residential customers in the Greater Toronto Area.
“The way we use the Internet has changed and it’s no longer a case of simply using email,” said Phil Hartling, vice-president, consumer services, Rogers Cable. “Canadians are increasingly spending more time online – averaging over 15 hours each week – and are relying on the Internet for all their communications needs: downloading photos, live video streaming and web conferencing. Having a fast Internet connection is key to ensuring our customers can do more while they’re online.”
As a result of the increasing demand for bandwidth and fast delivery of content, Rogers says it is future-proofing its network in order to ensure the “greatest Internet performance and online experience for its customers.” In the past ten years, Rogers has invested in excess of $1 billion into the network to enhance bandwidth capabilities and deliver customers greater options for Internet packages.
The comScore research was completed within the Greater Toronto Area over a four month period from 18 January 2008 until 31 May 2008, with over 120,000 network speed tests conducted. The results from the tests show that Rogers Hi-Speed Internet delivers faster speeds across all service tiers when compared to the competition.
