ALEXANDRIA, VA – In an “unprecedented” move, CTAM Chairman Joe Rooney has selected all CTAM Chapters as the joint 2008 recipients of the Chairman’s Award to be awarded at next week’s CTAM Summit in Boston.
The award will be shared by the volunteer leaders of each of the CTAM chapters. Mountain Cable president John Piercy is the president of CTAM Canada and will be on hand for the official announcement next Tuesday.
The award was designed to honour “extraordinary contributions to CTAM and the cable business as a whole”, and past recipients include various cable company executives. The organization’s press release said that the volunteer leaders of the CTAM chapters “are being honored for their exceptional efforts to engage and educate members about the industry and the marketing of its products and services”.
“I know it’s a bit unorthodox choosing the Chapters over an individual, but the volunteers who lead the CTAM chapters really extend the impact of our organization beyond what we would otherwise reach,” said Joe Rooney, CTAM chairman and CMO at Cox Communications.
“The educational and networking opportunities the chapters afford CTAM members in regional and local markets are a hidden jewel in CTAM’s portfolio of resources, tools, and ideas that help to advance the cable business. The volunteers in the chapters richly deserve this recognition.”
There are currently 15 CTAM chapters – 12 in the U.S., and one each in Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe.
