Veteran journalist appointed as director of news and public affairs at CTV Montreal


MONTREAL – Veteran journalist Jed Kahane has been appointed as director of news and public affairs at CTV Montreal, beginning in August.

In his new role, Kahane will be responsible for all of CTV Montreal’s news operations and their top-rated local newscasts.

“Jed is one of Canada’s top broadcast journalists and will make a wonderful addition to the CTV Montreal family as we continue to deliver the region’s award-wining top local news,” said Don Bastien, senior vice-president and general manager at CTV Montreal. “His experience, close personal attachment to the community, and his excellent news judgment will serve Montrealers extremely well.”

Kahane joins CTV Montreal from CTV National News, where he was the Montreal bureau chief.

Throughout his 20-year career in journalism, Kahane has covered some major Quebec stories, including the shootings at Dawson College, the 1995 referendum and provincial elections. He has also reported on the 9/11 attacks in New York, the fallout from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and was in Torino for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
