Stage 3 Media’s Sanctuary makes costly record

VANCOUVER – Stage 3 Media Inc. has made it into the Guinness World Records for producing the direct-to-web show with the highest budget – Sanctuary.

The Vancouver-based independent production company spent $4.5 million to produce eight 15-minute webisodes of Sanctuary. The price includes the cost of designing the show’s visual effects.

Each wedisode follows the exploits of Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping), her protégé Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) and reckless daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup) as they search for terrifying creatures.

Sanctuary was created by science fiction writer and Sanctuary executive producer Damian Kindler and directed by Martin Wood. Kindler, Tapping and Wood serve as executive producers along with N. John Smith.

“The Sanctuary team is honored to be recognized by such a global authority in human achievement,” said Kindler. “The watchword for everything we do in making the show is innovation and both Stage 3 Media and our close partners The Beedie Group are dedicated to developing original ways to deliver new media on a global scale.”

The feat will be recorded in the 2008 edition of the Guinness World Records publication, which will be released in August 2007.
