Miracle Channel founder quits amid scandal

LETHBRIDGE – The president and co-founder of national Christian channel The Miracle Channel, has resigned.

In a letter to supporters, the Miracle Channel Association said it has accepted the resignation of its president, Dick Dewert, who co-founded the channel in 1995. He resigned "due to an extra-marital relationship with another woman," says the release. "The Miracle Channel Association does not condone this behaviour and has accepted his resignation."

"The association has also accepted the resignation of Joan Dewert, who has resigned in order to stand with her husband. The association has offered assistance for professional marital counselling to the Dewerts to help in the healing of their marriage relationship," says the release.

The channel’s board named its chairman, Ray Block, as CEO. He "has been a vital part of the station since its inception and has the support of the board of directors and senior management. The Miracle Channel will continue its mandate to broadcast its message of hope through religious television and to reach out to those in need," reads the release.
