CHUM officially enters Calgary radio


CALGARY – CHUM Limited’s Energy 101.5 FM is officially on the air in Calgary, testing its signal while playing a mix of today’s hottest adult contemporary music.

"We are ecstatic to be part of the Calgary market," said general manager James Stuart, in a release. "We asked our audience what they wanted their new station to sound like and received an overwhelming response. Our team worked day and night to create a format that reflects what Calgary asked for."

Energy 101.5 FM features 35% Canadian content, providing mainstream media exposure to local and national Canadian musicians. During the term of its license, the station will invest $640,000 annually to the development and promotion of Canadian talent through various initiatives including the CHUM Emerging Indie Artist Initiative to increase exposure for emerging Canadian artists.

The station is currently testing its signal and will continue to do so until Monday, April 2. The station’s personalities will hit the airwaves beginning Tuesday, April 10 and the station will officially launch on Thursday, April 12.

The street-level studios are located in the Citytv Calgary building on 7th Avenue SW, in the downtown core.
