Citytv viewers can play to win — on their couches

TORONTO – Citytv will begin airing Play2Win, a new interactive game show, on December 21st.

"Already a huge sensation in Europe, Asia and gaining popularity in the U.S., ‘Play2Win’… makes it easy for viewers to win cash from the comfort of their own living rooms. As a live and highly interactive game show, viewers participate in games that are played in studio – via text messaging, telephone or visiting the Citytv web site at www.citytv.com," explains the release.

Once entered, viewers play scrabble-type games – Lettershake, Guess the Word, Pyramid, Fair & Square, ABC and Sudoku – and are eligible to win cash prizes through live participation in the show.

"Accessibility has been a basic tenet of Citytv since it launched in 1972. And now, technology has advanced to allow the audience to be the contestant from the comfort of their own home," said Roma Khanna, senior vice-president, content and co-head, CHUM Television, in a press release.

"Play2Win is Participation TV… a first of its kind in Canada, and is yet another inventive and interactive way CHUM continues to put the power in the hands of its viewers," said Maria Hale, vice-president, content business development, CHUM Limited. "Not only is this a new direct revenue stream for CHUM, it also provides a new sponsorship opportunity for our clients."

Play2Win is produced in association with 3Circles Media.
