TORONTO – Victor Giacomelli has been promoted to vice-president, sales at Corus Radio, effective February 5.
Most recently senior general sales manager at Corus Radio Toronto and general sales manager at 102.1 the Edge, Giacomelli brings 14 years of radio sales experience to this position.
Among his contributions during his time at Corus Radio Toronto are 2002’s Smirnoff Ice/Triple Black Edge promotion, which earned him a Samurai Award, the company’s highest recognition for an employee. Giacomelli also led 102.1 the Edge sponsorship events, such as the CASBY Music Awards, Edgefest and the NikeRunTO, earning Cossette Media and 102.1 the Edge a Media Innovation Award.
A student of business administration and marketing at the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College, Giacomelli’s career started at Standard Radio’s CHEZ 106 in Ottawa as a promotions assistant before moving to sales in 1992.
Giacomelli has been with Corus since its inception in 1999 and held several positions in the company’s Hamilton cluster. He was promoted to Corus Radio Toronto in 2002 as GSM at the Edge, before taking on expanded duties for the entire Toronto cluster, including Q107 and AM640 Toronto Radio in 2004.
His new role is to oversee all local and national radio sales for Corus Entertainment, reporting directly to president John Hayes
