MONTREAL – While the broadcast industry heavyweights talk (and talk and talk) in Ottawa, their newsgathering organizations begin covering the Liberal Leadership Convention in Montreal today and this time, they will be disseminating the in a multitude of ways.
On the Global TV side, its Global National “Liberal Leadership 2006” will bring viewers the usual in-depth coverage and analysis from its team of reporters, politicians and pundits. And starting Thursday, November 30th through to Saturday, December 2nd, Kevin Newman will anchor Global National live, on-location from the Palais des congrès in Montreal.
Global National will also take viewers behind-the-scenes at the convention with interactive features including live blogging, text messaging from Liberal delegates and viewers, a video sound-off tool for viewers and delegates to submit video comments for broadcast and a on-site convention webcam for delegates to debate issues or submit video comments for broadcast
CTV News, of course, will be led by anchor and senior editor Lloyd Robertson and will distribute content across different platforms, too.
In addition to the live television coverage, Canadians can also get up-to the minute updates on CTV.ca and regular reports on the CTV Mobile Video News Service and on CTV Broadband.
CPAC will probably provide the greatest number of hours of coverage and says it will "deliver the most complete coverage and viewer access of the convention taking viewers behind the scenes at policy debates, right to centre stage when the new leader is announced."
Besides its usual phone-in segments, CPAC is debuting a new interactive feature: real-time online chats from cpac.ca with CPAC pollster Nik Nanos, president of SES Research; so viewers can question Nik on the Numbers LIVE throughout the convention.
And, CPAC, as always can be streamed live on cpac.ca
