TORONTO – Vibika Bianchi has been promoted to director of original productions at W Network, Corus Entertainment’s specialty channel for women.
"Bianchi has been an integral member of the Original Productions team since joining W Network in 2004," said the company’s press release. "Her strong production background, pursuit of creative excellence and innovation, and collaborative team approach have contributed to the ongoing success of W Network shows such as The Smart Woman Survival Guide, Take this House and Sell It, Maxed Out, The Shopping Bags and many others."
In her new position, Bianchi will build on W’s programming by continuing to partner with the independent production community to create informative and entertaining programming for women.
Prior to W Network, Bianchi produced, developed and consulted for numerous production companies and broadcasters including Alliance Atlantis, True Entertainment, Breakthrough Films and TV, Life Network, CBC, CTV and MTV. She has also been head of production at Barna-Alper Productions, where she was part of the producing team behind programs including Da Vinci’s Inquest and Milgaard.
Maria Armstrong, who previously held the position of director of original productions, W Network, has moved on to further pursue projects with her production company Armstrong Entertainment, said the Corus release. Through her company, Armstrong will continue to provide consulting and executive producer services on select W Network projects.
