CHFI is Canada’s top corporate fundraiser for Run for the Cure

TORONTO – Toronto’s CHFI FM has raised more than $53,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for yesterday’s cross-Canada Run for the Cure, making it the highest corporate fundraiser for the event in the country.

On Friday, the station’s morning show had a special theme of “Thinkn’ Pink” and played inspirational music and segments to raise awareness of breast cancer, and encouraged listeners to call in and donate, and bid on auction prizes. That on-air fundraiser garnered more than $22,000.

The station fielded a team of runners and walkers that raised an additional $31,000 as part of the Run for the Cure, which was also held in various communities across the country.

“Team 98.1 CHFI” won the Toronto event’s Corporate Spirit Award for being the corporate team to raise the most money not only in Toronto, but in Canada. The award was accepted by CHFI morning show hosts Erin Davis and Mike Cooper.

The Run for the Cure raises money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, which supports research, education, diagnosis, and treatment.
