Two promotions at CHUM Radio


TORONTO – Kerry French has been promoted to the new position of vice-president, business analysis and Rob Farina to the new position of vice-president program development for CHUM Radio, the company announced Monday.

Kerry French, who has been promoted from her position as director, CHUM Radio Research, will continue to oversee research and marketing analysis for CHUM’s 33 radio stations, in addition to being involved in strategy development, planning and implementation with the CHUM Radio team.

French (pictured) will also be responsible for several new web-based training initiatives currently in development.

Farina (also pictured) will continue in his current role as program director of Toronto ratings leader CHUM-FM and will have an expanded role working with stations across the country to enhance programming strategies. He will also focus on the division’s initiatives in the creation of innovative new content and format platforms and CHUM’s longstanding commitment to fostering new Canadian artists.

French has been with CHUM since 1992 and has worked in radio for 30-plus years. Prior to joining CHUM, she was a partner with Major Market Broadcasters and worked in retail sales at Mclean Hunter Radio and Rogers. She also worked at WIC and in research with All-Canada Radio and Television.

Having joined CHUM in 1996, Farina has been program director of 104.5 CHUM FM since 1998. He also serves in various national programming initiatives as executive producer of MuchRadio Countdown and MuchMore Radio Countdown and the award-winning Music Online series. Prior to joining CHUM FM, Rob was Operations Manager for CHUM Radio Ottawa’s CKKL-FM/CFRA stations, and programmed radio stations in Toronto, Winnipeg and Ottawa for Rogers Communications. He sits on the boards of directors of the Radio Starmaker Fund, FACTOR and Canadian Association of Recording Artists and Sciences, and the steering committee of Canadian Music Week. Farina has been honoured as the Canadian Music Industry’s Program Director of the Year in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
