TORONTO – Nortel announced today it is teaming up with Broadstream Communications to provide an end-to-end IPTV solution that now includes both video infrastructure and television programming to small or rural telcos.
"The addition of Broadstream to Nortel’s IPTV ecosystem brings over 200 channels of IPTV-ready video content that can be transmitted directly to any service provider location in the United States," says the release. (Ed note: the fact the release is geared towards the U.S. suggests the content rights are not cleared for Canada and the solution then may not be available to Canada’s 39 independent telcos. We’re still trying to find out).
Nortel’s IPTV solution enables service providers to deliver a unique video service over an IP infrastructure that includes features such as on-screen instant messaging, mobile-to-TV picture sharing, and on-screen caller ID.
