CAB scholarship, Gold Ribbon, deadlines approaching


OTTAWA – Those wishing to apply deadline to apply for CAB Scholarships have to do so by the end of this month.

The CAB administers scholarships on behalf of its members and the application deadline is June 30th. The scholarships go to promising communications or broadcasting students seeking financial assistance.

The scholarships are: the Ruth Hancock Scholarship (sponsored by the Broadcast Executives Society, the Canadian Association of Broadcast Representatives and the CAB); the Astral Media Scholarship; the BBM Canada Scholarship; and the CAB’s Jim Allard Scholarship. Click here for more.

As well, the 2006 CAB Gold Ribbon Awards packages are now available to download from the CAB site. As well, hard copies have been sent to members.

This year’s competition includes three new categories. The two open to radio members are: Aboriginal programming, and diversity in news and information programming. The CAB has also created a diversity in news and information programming category for CAB television and specialty and pay members.

The deadline for entries is July 7, 2006.
