CBC hires restaurant exec

TORONTO – CBC Television announced this week it has hired David Scapillati as its new general manager of media sales and marketing.

In this position, Scapillati will oversee the Media Sales and Marketing team, "and will hold a key strategic and leadership role within CBC Television," said a memo from CBC TV EVP Richard Stursberg.

"Dave has a superb track record as a dynamic senior marketing and sales executive with a strong reputation for leading change, building successful brands and growing profitable sales," said Stursberg.

In his previous position as senior vice-president of brand and marketing for Prime Restaurants of Canada, Scapillati was responsible for the stewardship and long-term health and development of a diverse portfolio of leading restaurant brands (like Casey’s, East Side Mario’s and Fionn MacCool’s).

Prior to his work with Prime Restaurants, he was with Coca-Cola

"I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Jennifer Spragge for stepping into the role of general manager, media sales and marketing on an interim basis. She has done an excellent job of fulfilling this critical role and building upon the media sales and marketing group’s continuing success," said Stursberg.
