OTTAWA – A too-early early airing of ReGenesis last summer on Global Television Alberta broke the CAB Code of Ethics says the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council.
An episode entitled “Baby Bomb”, which aired at 8 p.m. in Alberta, included a brief scene of sexual activity, one unmuted instance of the f-word and other scenes showing the results of injury and disease. In a release on Wednesday, the CBSC national conventional television panel concluded that the f-word before 9 p.m. and the failure to provide adequate information about the content of the program in its viewer advisories breached the CAB Code of Ethics.
"The Panel was evenly divided on whether the scene of sexual activity, which lasted 16 seconds and showed the buttocks of a woman straddling a man, was sufficiently explicit to require a post-9 p.m. time slot," says the release. So, there was no finding of a breach on account of the sexual component.
